Day 3: Floating in the Infinity pool 2.0 towards Herrsching
Have you ever swum in an infinity pool? It’s a unique experience to swim toward the edge, where there's no visible wall to cling to. For beginners, I wouldn’t recommend Marina Bay Sands in Singapore on the 76th floor—but if you get the chance, it's worth it! The entrance fee might exceed the cost of a Big Mac Meal.
Here on the ship, we have our own version: “Infinity Pool 2.0.” Sunbathing on the 14th deck offers a panoramic view of the endless sea, giving the impression that our ship is itself floating in a massive infinity pool. It’s like Ptolemy’s world model come to life—the ship cruising on an infinite ocean. Just imagine that, somehow, all that water eventually flows into Lake Ammersee, with the ship docking perfectly on time at the Herrsching jetty.
Some people might find the idea of falling off the horizon unsettling, but for me, it evokes a sense of solitude and serenity. Out here, the rest of the world feels so far away. For a few days, there’s no need to worry about tax payments, political turmoil, or wars—just the endless ocean and a peaceful escape from it all.
